A landscape plan for three commercial office buildings beside Valley River Center in Eugene, Oregon, using native plants to shape connected outdoor spaces.

The plan featured three-story shade trees planted 20 feet on center to define outdoor spaces between the buildings as they matured into a connected canopy.

Single-species tree groupings created a consistent texture, pattern, light, and shade, emphasizing their collective experience. By following a grid aligned with the building floor plans, the plantings also created spatial continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces.
