When Oregon's Governor proposed cuts to the state's higher education budget in 1982, the University of Oregon's Student Lobby protested at the State Legislature about the inevitable tuition hikes that would follow. My editorial cartoon for the student newspaper likened their efforts to a Volkswagen sideswiping a Cadillac. Clearly they would sustain most of the damage, but their efforts would surely leave a mark.
