Houses of the Batammaliba

This poster was a book review for a University of Oregon graduate study class on the essentials of a book called 'The Anatomy of Architecture: Ontology and Metaphor in Batammaliba Architectural Expression.'

This book was a remarkable study in observation and documentation. It should be basic reading for any serious architect. It is about a people in West Africa whose name translates to "those that are the real architects," because they are known for building their houses as a conscious expression of personal and cultural soul.
